SUPERMARINE

Supermarine finds a way to create a gourmet meal with local food while maintaining an unpretentious attitude that fits perfectly with its neighbourhood surroundings.

Owners James Iranzad And Josh Pape (of Bufala and Wildebeest fame) have become masters at finding a restaurant void and filling it, and Supermarine is no different. Despite its location near the water, Iranzad and Pape saw Kitsilano as a void for good, local, affordable seafood. So, they opened one themselves. Supermarine sources fresh and sustainable produce, seafood, and meat, and prepares them in a such a way that makes it just slightly unique, without weighing too heavily on your wallet.

The restaurant's decor falls somewhere between 1970s chic and hipster casual. Coffee is served in tin camping mugs and the dishes are served on brown ceramic plates. The small, 35-seat space is just large enough to feel cozy but not cramped in the summer, and the cocktail list and patio make it a perfect summer destination. And there serve brunch, too, so what's not to love?
